Highpoint Church Family!

Jesus is building His church, and he is using every one of us! Morgan and I are constantly blown away by how God is using each of you to advance His mission on this earth. We are so encouraged by seeing you utilize your gifts, talents, abilities, and resources to continue God’s great commission that Jesus gives us in Matthew 28:16-20.

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Jesus is building His church, and we all have a role to play. When people talk about building in our modern era, many focus solely on physical buildings. While physical buildings are great resources, that isn’t our ultimate goal. Building His church looks like loving the unlovable, encouraging the broken-hearted, and caring for the disenfranchised.

While we’ve accomplished so much together through the Waymaker Initiative. The WayMaker Initiative at Highpoint Church encompasses the desire to reach people globally, advance the mission locally, and set up future Christian leaders to continue fulfilling the great commission. We accomplish this by individuals and families prayerfully committing to give above and beyond their tithes to fulfill this great commission.

God is continuing to open up new doors of opportunity that align with this emphasis. We are so encouraged by your participation! Last year ??? people gave to Waymaker. Since we launched Waymaker in December of 2019, you have given over ?? We have seen God do so many amazing things through your generosity, and lives are being impacted because of your faithfulness!

Jesus is building his church, and we all have a role to play. Would you consider partnering with us to make an impact on those who do not know Christ?

Our annual Miracle Offering is December 12, and through our one special offering in the year, we have the opportunity to make a lasting impact. On the same day, you will be able to make a monthly faith promise above and beyond the tithe to support these initiatives. Leading up to December 11th, you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about the Miracle Offering and how you can make a difference. As we have previously committed, we will move at the speed of your generosity. We will not take on debt to complete these initiatives, so during this season, we invite you to prayerfully consider how God is leading you to participate in advancing his mission.

It is time for us to rise and build His Church.

HOW DOES THE WAYMAKER INITIATIVE WORK?

At Highpoint, we believe in the tithe – giving back to God the first 10% of our income. The tithe is used for the operations and day-to-day ministry at Highpoint Church. When you give to the WayMaker initiative, above and beyond the tithe, we come together as the body of Christ, each doing our part to rise and be a part of seeing the extraordinary take place.

By God’s abundant grace and blessings, and through the intention and sacrificial living of many, we as a church family can give away thousands of dollars so that many can come to know Jesus personally. These funds will be distributed to world-class organizations and partners working on expanding the kingdom of God in our community, our nation, and all across the globe.

If this seems like a big task and responsibility, that is because it is! But with the help of the Holy Spirit and us working together, we can and will make a difference.

When you catch the heartbeat of generosity at Highpoint, you can see beyond a giving initiative to realize that you are building the kingdom of God so that everyone may know Jesus Christ personally. team.

Aurora Dream Center

Highpoint began supporting the Denver Dream Center in 2021, and that partnership has developed over the last several years.

The Dream Center’s mission is to rescue people, rebuild lives, and restore dreams. This is done by providing free resources and services that address immediate and long-term needs in the areas of homelessness, hunger, poverty, addiction, abuse, education, and assisting those transitioning from various levels of incarceration.

As God divinely grew this partnership, we began to pray and talk about what it could look like to reach Denver and have a presence in our very own city.

We feel a heavy burden to go into the darkest, most complex parts of our community and to meet the physical and spiritual needs of those in need in Aurora.

God has grown and developed this opportunity, and Highpoint is participating with other Bible-believing churches in our community to start the process of launching an Aurora Dream Center in 2023. This isn’t just a Highpoint project. This is a Jesus project. And Jesus is building His Church!

Parking Lot Expansion

We, as a church, are passionate about reaching people who are far from God! God is answering our prayers, and we have seen over 250 people make decisions to follow Jesus in the last 12 months. As you have likely seen on Sundays, the church has continued to grow, and as of the first few weeks of September 2022, we have seen an increase in Sunday morning worship service attendance by 32% year over year. We have welcomed 180 first-time guests that have filled out information cards in the last three months alone. We currently have 35 small groups and over 400 people participating this fall. Almost every ministry area has seen this increase and growth, including our giving. God is doing something so special, and I am thankful for that. As our church family grows, we want to do our best to continue to help make room. Our greatest challenge in doing so is not a bigger building or even space for our kids but our need for more parking. Our current parking lot holds 239 parking spaces. We have been pushing to be as creative as possible, asking people to carpool and requesting volunteers and individuals to park in the dirt field and at Lowes for over nine months. However, we are simply running out of space and need a long-term solution. We never want anyone to drive in, drive out and miss all God has for them because they can’t find a place to park. We are starting to raise funds to put in additional parking with the desire to pay for a majority of the project in cash by taking on little to no debt. This project is a priority for the future of Highpoint, and we hope to complete this in the next year or two. We are committed to moving at the pace of your generosity. This would enable us to continue to grow and steward this facility in the best way possible.

Fostering

400,000 kids in America are in foster care. 100,000 kids are ready for adoption. We will work to support local agencies with supplies for foster care families, providing time for childcare nights and caring for foster care parents. We will work with the Reeves Initiative to help kids in foster care with financial assistance to go to youth camps, go on mission trips, or make college visits.

New Global Partner

The Banchada belong to the lowest caste in Indian society. They are extremely poor and have a very low literacy rate.

For over 500 years, Banchada people have sold their daughters into sexual slavery. This 500-year-old tradition has no effect on the males, as they feel they have divine sanction to initiate their daughters into this trade. It begins by dedicating their newborn girls to the goddess of prostitution, followed by neighbors and friends coming to congratulate them for the future profit they will make by prostituting or selling their daughters. From the first day of life, little girls are seen as a commodity.

Between the ages of ten to twelve, girls are sold to older men to become “wives.” A very beautiful girl can be sold for as much as $15,000—the equivalent of three years’ income. Those who aren’t sold as wives are prostituted by their own families to generate income. Families expect the girls to be their main source of income.

People who want to have sex with children are their target customer base. Men from all over India drive to Madhya Pradesh to have sex with children. In these communities, prostitution is not presented as a choice but a mandate. It is their caste, their prison, and their way of life. Parents see no value in education as girls have to become prostitutes, and boys will become pimps. Even though children are enrolled in schools at a young age, most drop out after either fifth or eighth grade. The school dropout rate for girls is almost 100%. Every Banchada girl is trafficked. Little boys are trained to become pimps and managers in the sex trade. Their fate is determined when they are born. There is no one to encourage these children to follow their dreams. More than 50% of the population is infected with HIV/AIDS. With almost no medical care or prevention, newborns often inherit the disease.

The goal of Project Rescue is to have a presence in and bring transformation to all 76 Banchada villages. We are partnering with them to reach out and build relationships with the families, teaching them there is another way of life—that their children don’t have to continue the cycle of prostitution and disease.

• Project Rescue will provide medical treatment for expectant mothers and children with HIV.

• Project Rescue is building schools to provide education for children beyond fifth grade—and an option for them to have a better life and future.

• Project Rescue builds homes to provide safe housing for rescued and abandoned children.

Project Rescue currently has 236 students from 22 villages studying in school! The current capacity is 255. In addition, project rescue has 40 children in their homes. As soon as the government eases Covid restrictions, more children will move in. Project Rescue families a new way of life for their children…children who are now being educated and trained to change the culture and break the cycle of human trafficking and sex slavery.

The funds for Project Rescue will be used to impact and reach the Banchada, an unreached people group in India. Supporting Project rescue will open doors to ministry and spread the gospel message through rescuing thousands of girls from sexual slavery and providing medical treatment, education, and safe houses to give girls a new life and a future.

Denver Dream Center

Jess’ life began with trauma, abuse, and loss. To cope with these, she started using meth at the early age of eleven because no one had taught her how to cope differently. No one told her that there was a better life out there or that the world wasn’t just cold and dark. She quickly learned that this lifestyle only leads to more trauma, more abuse, and more brokenness.

Addiction was a constant cycle of getting clean and relapsing. At the age of 23, Jess gave birth to her daughter. At the time, she was still abusing drugs and alcohol. But the moment she gave birth to her daughter, she realized what true love was. However, trauma and addiction quickly stole that from her, and she lost custody of her daughter. Jess lost all control of her life and turned back to the only thing that she knew would numb the pain— her addiction. She got in trouble and was sentenced to rehab because of it.

In rehab, Jess discovered that she had lost complete custody of her daughter and felt hopeless. Laying in bed, unable to handle the emotions she was feeling and the things she was going through, Jess remembers trying to come up with an escape plan. At that moment, she heard God whisper to her, “My child, feel!” Within an instant, feelings flowed throughout her body. That night, Jess learned that she didn’t need to numb her pain or emotions anymore but that God was there and He was going to move mountains for her. That was the first time in her life that she didn’t feel the need to resort or run back to drugs or alcohol to cope, but instead, she decided to trust God. Within a year, Jess had full custody of her daughter back, met her fiancé, and had a life she never dreamed she could have!

Jess attended Denver Dream Center’s Father’s Day barbecue and instantly fell in love with Denver Dream Center. She has been there for eight years now and hasn’t turned back. The Denver Dream Center has taught her how to serve God and how to reach people with her testimony. The relationships she has built, the passion in her heart, and the faith that has been instilled in her since serving at the Denver Dream Center have been life-saving.

Even though addiction and trauma are still daily battles, Jess no longer runs back to addiction. Instead, she can walk into the Dream Center and be welcomed with open arms. She has built a relationship with them, and now if she falls off the track, they check up on her by calling or coming to her door and directly making sure she’s okay and offering a shoulder to lean on.

Since being at the Dream Center, she is now involved in giving back to the community by going into the Women’s Prisons to give them hope and courage. Her daughter got baptized by Pastor B of the Denver Dream Center, her family knows who God is, and she has a place to finally call home.

CHI ALPHA

Omar’s Story

Chi Alpha was the ministry God used to bring me back to him. I was raised in the church and knew what it meant to be saved and that heaven and hell existed. What I didn’t know was what it meant to be a man of God; that is what the men in Chi Alpha taught me.

I found Chi Alpha in the Lory Student Center Plaza at a time in my life when I did not want anything to do with a Christian ministry. I was looking for a friend, and it was at the plaza that my small group leader randomly decided to talk to me. He wanted to hang out with me, so I accepted, and the rest is history.

Through this ministry, I was reconciled to God and have discovered through my brothers in Chi Alpha and Nate Banke for the first time what it meant to be a man of God, what it meant to be a Christian man. For this, and many more things, I am so happy that Chi Alpha found me at a time when I didn’t want to be found. I thank God every day for this ministry because today, I walk with my Savior, Jesus Christ.

Omar is the first person to graduate from college in his family. He is now serving as a young adult leader at his church.

WHAT NEXT?

How do you make a commitment to the way maker initiative? To see these things come to reality will require a generous sacrifice from us all. Some giving sacrificially and some from great abundance. If this is your first time giving, or if you are looking to increase the level of your generosity, here are some ways to help you succeed.

PRAY

Ask God what you can give that could advance his mission here on this Earth. When you pray, have a genuine open heart. If you are married, we encourage you to pray together with your spouse so that you both are on the same page spiritually and practically.

MAKE A PLAN TO GIVE

When you have a plan and are diligent, it leads to plenty. (Proverbs 20:15) God is excited when you have a plan. Whatever the amount is, plan with it – and be obedient to it. Habakkuk 2:2 tells us to write down the vision and pray about it! This is a step of faith for everyone in the Highpoint family. But with God’s help, we are able to see our faith not only at work but to see something unique done when everyone asks God what they should do. We will never pressure or make you feel like you should give a specific amount, but we will ask you to pray and ask God how you can be part of advancing His kingdom. Stepping out in faith pleases God.

WHAT WOULD BE A DREAM AMOUNT YOU COULD GIVE?

If you had great abundance, or God was to provide unexpectedly, what amount would you dream to give? Hold on to that thought. This is only for you and God. But pay attention to what God can do through you as you stay obedient to whatever he has asked you to do. Give all glory to God, who is able to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think through his mighty power at work within us. (Ephesians 3:20)

There will be hundreds of people who participate in the Waymaker Initiative. It is important to remember that obedience to what God speaks to you is what matters, not the size of the gift.

Our commitment is to move at the pace of the generosity of the people, so we will not be taking on any new debt to accomplish these projects.

We believe this is God’s church, and our job is to steward whatever resources are given. So be encouraged; with God all
