Frequently Asked Questions: Highpoint Kids

  • Q: When does Highpoint Kids Reopen?

  • A: On July 12th Early Childhood Reopens, Nursery through 5 Year Olds. However, due to room capacity limitations to honor social distancing, reservations are required – just add your kids when you get your adult service reservations.

  • Q: Will drop off and pick up change?

  • A: As always, we will require secure check in before children are admitted to our classrooms. This ensures that only authorized persons pick up children using the pick up tag or app display screen when picking up children. We are also asking that parents not enter the rooms but drop off at the doorway as well as wait outside the room at pick up and children will be brought to you. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we seek to minimize congestion during drop off and pick up.

  • Q: Is social distancing being practiced in the children’s rooms?

  • A: As much as possible, we are implementing social distancing. Obviously, young children are constantly on the move, however, room capacity limitations will minimize the number of kids in the rooms, and in elementary the chairs will be set up social distanced, with siblings able to sit together. Games will also keep social distancing in mind as well as reducing activities that involves shared contact with objects or each other. Children are in the lowest risk category, so we aren’t overly concerned, but will still strive to honor the guidelines as much as possible.

  • Q: Do children have to wear masks?

  • A: Masks are recommended, but we will not require them for children. If you would like your child to wear a mask, please send them with one and we’ll encourage them to wear it and keep the environment mask friendly. Note: All volunteers will be wearing masks.

  • Q: Are the rooms being cleaned?

  • A: We’ve always provided clean learning environments, but in order to increase the safety of our rooms, we are now having the rooms professionally cleaned before Sunday, and volunteers will be wiping down and cleaning all surfaces during after each service. Detailed cleaning procedures have been implemented and our volunteers trained to follow them carefully. We care about your kids!

  • Q: What about snacks?

  • A: We understand snacks are important to kids. CDC Guidelines do not permit us to distribute snacks to the children at this time, and also restricts sharing of food. However, you may send a snack with your child in early childhood. Please put it in a zip lock bag with your child’s name on it, and give to the teacher when the child enters the class. We encourage individually wrapped items. Elementary usually doesn’t offer snacks, but the drinking fountain will be available for kids as usual, but staff will wipe it down after each use.

  • Q: I heard that check-in changed?

  • A: Yes! You can always check in at any station with your last name or phone number, and will seem very much the same. However, if you enjoyed the Express Check-in, you can delete the old check-in app and instead, download the Church Center app and set up your account. You will be able to check in your children in the app. A QR Code will be displayed, and then at the Express Check-in Station you’ll be able to scan the code and your stickers will print. If you have any questions or need help learning the new system, just ask.

  • Q: Do you need help in the children’s ministry?

  • A: Yes. Not all of our volunteers are able to return at this time, so we could use some new volunteers. We will provide training before you start so you are aware of all the standard policies as well as the new ones we are implementing at this time. To learn more visit highpointchurch.us/kids/serve
